FCC – Congressional Showdown
My friend Ben submitted this link to me regarding a much needed Congressional oversight coming to the FCC today. I’ll be interested to see how this turns out–the Democrats have been great about posturing lately, but very little teeth to their bite (don’t get me started on NSA wiretapping, at least until a separate post). Still, Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) has gotten quite a reputation for “relishing” his Congressional oversight authority, so there may be hope yet. From the pre-hearing questions, the following seems to be on the agenda:
- AT&T Merger
- Post AT&T Merger (what does “I won’t enforce FCC actions” mean, Chairman Martin?)
- National Broadband Strategy
- Statistical Abilities (high school math review)
- NSA Wiretapping
Regardless of what happens, it will definitely give an indication of what we can expect in telecom as the political pendulum swings back towards the Democrats.
